Cape Breton Island’s most famous resident, Alexander Graham Bell, once said, “I have travelled around the globe. I have seen the Canadian and American Rockies, the Andes, the Alps and the Highlands of Scotland, but for simple beauty, Cape Breton outrivals them all.” Scottish traditions and Gaelic folklore come alive on this delightful five-day tour.
Day 1
Arrive in Halifax and check into your hotel. Enjoy the sites and sounds of Halifax at your leisure.
Day 2
Depart from Halifax on scheduled transportation to New Glasgow where you will meet your Tour Director and board your touring coach. Then it’s off to Cape Breton Island - “the Scotland of North America.” Visit the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site in Baddeck. Spend two nights at a charming lakeside resort in the heart of Baddeck. (Dinner)
Day 3
Experience one of the prettiest drives in North America, the Cabot Trail. Wind along this ribbon of highway where the mountains meet the sea in Cape Breton Highlands National Park. The vistas abound as you travel over the flat-topped mountains. During your journey, enjoy a whale watching boat tour (weather permitting). (Breakfast, Picnic Lunch, Dinner).
Day 4
Visit the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site talking with some of the costumed guides who remain in character, or sample the sustenance of the era. Your tour continues along the shores of Bras d’Or to the mainland. Overnight in a downtown Halifax Hotel. (Breakfast).
Day 5
Check-out of hotel and depart Halifax
